Acid Zinc Plating

It comes to the forefront with its excellent brightness, high yield, low cost and successful results even on forced surfaces.

Zinc plating, a zinc-chloride based process, involves the placement of thin and bright zinc particles on the surface of a metal object, also known as the substrate, by electrolysis. Zinc plating creates a physical barrier that prevents rust from reaching the underlying metal surface. Zinc has been chosen because of its ability to combat innate corrosion. In fact, zinc is often referred to as a corrosion inhibitor. While the use of zinc compounds began 2,500 years ago, metallic zinc production first occurred in India in the 15th century. Today, nearly one third of the zinc metal is used for galvanizing, which is a metal surface plating to protect against rusting. Zinc plating is the most commonly used method in galvanizing.

Corrosion is the greatest threat to almost any metal type and corrosive effects can be destructive. According to NASA, the cost of corrosion-related losses to US industries is about $ 276 billion a year, and this figure is approaching $ 1 trillion worldwide.

Industries most affected by corosion include production, transportation, government, utilities and infrastructure. This process, known as zinc plating, is often used to protect metals such as iron and steel against the ruthless forces of corrosion.
